Man With Hockey Hair Makes Great Points
Barry Melrose correctly makes the case that the Red Wings aren’t getting the props they deserve for breaking a 35-year-old home winning streak with 21 straight:
- Today’s NHL doesn’t have any soft teams (Melrose cites the Caps from the 70s as an automatic win for the 20-game-streak Flyers)
- Today’s NHL doesn’t have any soft goalies (Melrose points to the presence of more sub par goalies in the 70s)
- The Red Wings are in the toughest division in the NHL right now, with three teams having over 70 points (no other division has more than one).
I don’t care if they’re from Detroit, rooting for the Red Wings in any capacity is like rooting for big insurance companies.
