Some thoughts on this Pete and Pete article
1) I only read Splitsider articles that are cross-posted on the Awl, so I probably don’t have a great basis for making judgments. (Although I assume stuff that’s cross-posted is deemed to be elite content, so maybe I have an excellent basis. Who knows.) Anyway, I’m always disappointed in how dry and bland these posts can be, and the Pete and Pete article is a textbook example. “Sawdusty” is a word that comes to mind. The Adventures of Pete and Pete is one of my favorite shows ever, and yet here I was, struggling to slog through a lengthy piece about its creation, and not enjoying it all. I’m not trying to take any shots here; Splitsider has never pitched to my wheelhouse, so I should stop expecting it to. I guess it’s just weird to see how unfunny and not-whimsical the inner workings of comedy can be.
2) There was also no mention of how Bayonne, New Jersey, where much of the show was filmed, is the Greatest Place on God’s Sweet Creation.
3) There was also no discussion of the only question about Pete and Pete that matters at this point: when is Season 3 ever going to come out on DVD?
